Strengths Assessment

At work Heidi wanted us to do a strengths assessment test, and my top five strengths were Context, Empathy, Adaptability, Input and Positivity. Here's what Context says (I'll bold what I especially agree with):

People who are especially talented in the Context theme enjoy thinking about the past. They understand the present by researching its history. Chances are good that you periodically investigate some of the events, policies, or people whose actions contributed to worldwide wars. You might delve into materials that reveal how these global conflicts were brought to an end. It’s very likely that you really like to read about past events and the key people involved. By accumulating lots of knowledge regarding days gone by, you regularly anticipate the opportunities and pitfalls you are apt to face in the coming months, years, or decades. Because of your strengths, you create a vision of the future by unraveling what happened in the past. You strive to understand the what, when, who, where, how, and why of events. You are determined to create a framework of facts so you can put things in perspective. Instinctively, you welcome opportunities to hear historians share their thoughts, stories, or theories about prominent people. Your interest probably extends to important events. Driven by your talents, you routinely gather historical facts or artifacts — that is, pictures, tools, books, artwork, correspondence, or documents. You often wait to determine whether this information is useful. Your interest in history probably has no purpose other than to answer your own questions. You are simply intrigued by the past and its people. The future starts to take shape in your mind as soon as you begin to rummage through your collection of historic truths and objects

Wow! I love how accurate this is, especially the collecting of historical artifacts and stuff (Cherry has taken a lot of my money LOL). Heidi said she also scored the most in Context, and had never met anyone else who had. Cool!

Empathy
People who are especially talented in the Empathy theme can sense the feelings of other people by imagining themselves in others’ lives or others’ situations. Because of your strengths, you sense when a person requires your assistance. You characteristically initiate conversations with timid individuals who struggle to express their thoughts or feelings. You probably respond to people even before they state their needs. Many individuals conclude you are caring and kind. It’s very likely that you regularly reflect on how you felt about your experiences as they occurred. You usually ponder how you felt afterward, too. Your emotional awareness sharpens your thinking. You are doubly blessed: You think with your head and feel with your heart. Instinctively, you help individuals feel safe enough to risk sharing their most personal thoughts and feelings. They trust you will keep this information to yourself. You probably sense when someone is vulnerable — that is, easily hurt by criticism, rejection, or betrayal. By nature, you are pleased when people entrust you with their deepest feelings, thoughts, or needs. Often you anticipate what they will say before they find the exact words to express themselves. Chances are good that you are filled with awe by beauty in the world, in people, and in the cosmos. Whether you gaze upon nature’s wonders or marvel at the work of human hands, you are filled with wonder. You can suddenly stop what you are doing to watch a sunset, listen to the rustle of leaves, stand before a work of art, hear a piece of music, look through a telescope, or hold a newborn child. You experience beauty at a level many people cannot imagine. Once the moment has passed, you can still picture the scene or hear the sound in your memory

Wow again! I definitely try to be empathetic, and the filled with awe part is 1000% true..I'd never want to be "meh" about the Northern Lights, moose, a beautiful sky in the mountains..amazing <3

Adaptability
People who are especially talented in the Adaptability theme prefer to “go with the flow.” They tend to be “now” people who take things as they come and discover the future one day at a time. It’s very likely that you might deal with the requests or problems of others as soon as you learn about them. By nature, you avoid individuals who work non-stop, never taking a break. You refuse to rush headlong from one activity to the next. You are quite comfortable dealing with change, surprises, and unexpected problems. Why? While you appreciate schedules and plans, you recognize when it is wise to deviate — that is, turn away — from them. Driven by your talents, you now and then picture events or situations you might find yourself facing in the coming months, years, or decades. Sometimes you consider ways you might react when these circumstances materialize. Because of your strengths, you may feel best about life when you take time to envision how you might react to future situations. To some degree, forethought helps you adjust to unexpected problems. It sometimes prepares you to take advantage of new opportunities. Instinctively, you enjoy reading. It allows you to gather information to expand your storehouse of knowledge. When surrounded by individuals who cannot sit still, giving your full attention to the printed word is apt to be difficult, if not impossible. You have a habit of avoiding the company of restless people when you want to give your undivided attention to a book, magazine article, newspaper account, personal correspondence, or official document

Change is hard, but reading and "expanding my storehouse of knowledge" is the best!

Input
People who are especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information. Chances are good that you are likely to be attracted to books, publications, or Internet sites that offer useful tips for putting things in order, sorting things, or disposing of things no longer needed. By nature, you feast on the ideas in books and other printed material. In the process of reading, you accumulate lots of information for its own sake. During the week, you likely spend several hours reflecting on your treasure trove of facts, data, history, or research. Often one or two of your newfound concepts, theories, or findings consumes the majority of your thinking time. Because of your strengths, you continually absorb, integrate, or catalog new information with ease. Ever eager to expand your knowledge base, you read avidly. Because you can access your memory bank at any time, you are free to process writers’ or researchers’ ideas immediately or at a later time. It’s very likely that you prepare for assignments by reading extensively. Your capacity for pulling together information from books, publications, correspondence, notes, or Internet sites serves you well. As a result, you often avoid feelings of self-reproach — that is, blaming yourself for not knowing something you should have known. Instinctively, you are the ideal example of a person with an open and agile mind. Thinking consumes a great portion of your time. You like to exchange ideas with individuals who are as well-read as you are. Your passion for the written word fuels your thought processes and lays the groundwork for sophisticated conversations. When you are alone, you probably reflect upon the thoughts of brilliant writers or the findings of notable researchers

Everyone is amazed by how many facts and trivia I know haha. I definitely think too much as well :P

Positivity
People who are especially talented in the Positivity theme have an enthusiasm that is contagious. They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do. Because of your strengths, you may value financial security but not think about it as much as some people do. Perhaps you measure the quality of your life in less tangible but more meaningful ways. You might place a higher priority on spending time with family and friends than working overtime to make extra money. You might prefer a simple, less costly vacation to an expensive trip. You might treasure a gift someone made for you more than a costly present purchased at an upscale, trendy store. Driven by your talents, you sometimes feel quite good about what life has to offer. Perhaps your attitude helps others be more optimistic and upbeat, too. Chances are good that you may derive satisfaction from participating in games, diversions, or amusements. Perhaps you think life is meant to be enjoyed. Occasionally you excuse yourself from contests where one person wins, but everyone else loses. You might want everyone involved to feel good about the experience, not just one individual. It’s very likely that you sometimes exhibit a readiness and a willingness to master certain kinds of new information or skills. Perhaps your curiosity causes you to be more optimistic about your ability to cope with change. By nature, you might be exceptionally good at detecting what makes each person unique or special. Maybe you notice the different moods, needs for information, or preferred forms of recognition for the people in your life. Armed with these insights, you may inspire certain individuals to move into action. Perhaps you realize life is more fulfilling for people who choose tasks or are given assignments that match their talents

Being optimistic and upbeat definitely rubs off on others! Even when the world is going crazy (like now), I still want to have hope things will get better eventually. This test was rather fun and cool actually, I wonder what results other people got lol

5. How far should a government go to prevent its citizens from causing harm to themselves? Umm..we should have things like building codes and stuff, at least

6. If time travel is possible, would we have met time travelers already? Who knows lol, maybe they haven't revealed themselves yet :P

7. What is something popular now that annoys you? For some reason, there are authors that don't put what people are saying in quotation marks, which drives me CRAZY. I read a book like that once and it annoyed me so much I can't read any more like that..too bad, there are books like The Road I've wanted to read but seeing no quotation marks makes me groan. I don't know what they're trying to accomplish with that, but it's not "cool" lol

8. Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction books? Why? I like both! Just depends on what I want to read at the time lol

Today's trivia: The Pokémon Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan are based on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan
