The rest of the San Diego trip
So Saturday was Dana and Matt's wedding! Before the wedding, mom and I were determined to find more than one or two geocaches, or looking for one and not finding it (caching in such a busy place is hard! Especially when you have to figure out where to park). We ended up finding ELEVEN!! Heck yeahh. I think that's my third best day of caching (my second is 16 I think and my best is 20). That was satisfying lol. After that we got ready for the wedding. It was pretty much the best wedding ever..Dana looked perfect and gorgeous and just bursting with happiness. When the officiator was reading his notes both of them stood there looking at each other bursting with love and happiness. It was so awesome when they were finally pronounced man and wife!! They were made for each other. <3 After that was happy hour or something, or "standing around eating and talking" lol. Mom and I snuck up to our room to get a book since that's neither of our fortes lol. After that was dinner..I met Matt's mom and stepdad, the ones that live in Payson. None of us can get over how dad bought a house in the same town Matt's parents live haha. There was also a photobooth (fun! I'm gonna hang those pics on my fridge :D) and dancing. Mom and I hung back at first (we're the worst dancers ever, and shy lol) but when Uptown Funk came on (a great dancing song!) we decided to go up there. Might as well let loose and have fun! We might have been flailing more than dancing LOL, but whatever. Poor Dana was getting tired though (it was fun dancing with her too! She saw the rare side of me lol). Mom and I left around 11 and Dana said the party wound down around midnight. The Best Man and Maid of Honor made great speeches too, which were 100% true. It was a great night!! So happy they're finally married :D
Sunday we had brunch with Dana and then drove to the LA area to visit Aunt Susan and Uncle Carl. I wasn't even driving and the freeway was freaking me out! We counted EIGHT lanes in one direction!! D: It was weird seeing Torrance again (where grandma used to live)..besides a few street names (like Sepulveda and Madrona), not much looked how I remembered it. I finally met Susan's cats that dad always talks about..two were skittish and ran away if I even got near them, but the other one let me pick him up and he was purring, aww. He's actually her neighbor's cat, but likes to hang out at Susan's house too. We hung out there for a couple hours and then went to Redondo Beach..one of my coworkers wanted me to bring home sand for her, and I wanted to see one of the beaches from my childhood. The beach was DEFINITELY not how I remembered it. It seemed like when I was a kid there were a few people around but kinda had a lot of space for ourselves..not anymore I guess. The beach was so crowded there wasn't really room for anyone else! Wow. What I do remember that was still there was this kite shop, many people fishing from the pier, and the poor lobsters in a tank awaiting their doom. D: (Here's a funny story: when Ryan and I were kids we collected these clams in a bucket and left it in grandma's garage. Every time we came over after that she was like "DON'T BRING ANY CLAMS BACK, THEY STUNK UP MY GARAGE!" haha!) After having a super healthy dinner of smoothies, Dippin Dots (!!) and funnel cake lol, and getting the sand and souvenirs and a geocache, we got the heck out of there lol. It was nice to relax at the hotel!
Yesterday we flew home. Before going to the airport, we got three geocaches. I think we got 21 in total on this trip, yay! Even though San Diego is crazy busy and stuff, it was still sad to leave since the weather is so beautiful there. I saw Catalina Island after taking off, yay!! I love that place. <3 After we took off from Seattle I looked at webcams down the coast to check if it was clear..and there was a stretch with glaciers where it WAS clear! I was surprised..usually it's cloudy down there. I kept the flight tracker and webcams up so I could see the general area we were in..and yay, I saw some AWESOME glaciers!! We passed what looked like a town..I thought it was Juneau and Mendenhall Glacier, but it's hard to know unless you knew EXACTLY where you were (and I saw a cruise ship in the Inside Passage, so it must have been Juneau or Ketchikan or something). It's annoying me I'm not sure which glaciers I saw, even when looking at Google Earth and comparing my pics. I wish I hadn't used my phone to take the pics, since some of them didn't come out that good (and it was hazy anyway). Oh welll. I loved the glaciers with awesome moraines, I was all squeeing and being like "that's so COOL!!!" One reason how I know the "real" me is back..last year we went to Portage Glacier and went flightseeing in Homer and I just felt..dead and blah. In fact I couldn't wait for the flight to be over. I knew something was REALLY wrong then. It got cloudy before we got to Yakutat/Hubbard Glacier and Malaspina Glacier (HUGE glacier spread out over hundreds of miles), which I expected from the webcams, but it was still disappointing lol. It was nice being on the calm Fairbanks roads again!! I'm glad I have today off of work too, I'm tired and jetlagged lol
Here's the rest of the pics!
