POTC 2!!!

I saw POTC 2 yesterday...OMG IT'S SO AWESOME!! I loved when Davy Jones was playing on his organ...it was sooo epic and awesome! It better be on the soundtrack! And during the swordfight one of them went up on a rope and made a bell ring haha. It was a very awesome movie. I also bought CDs...the POTC 2 soundtrack (I'm amazed they had it!), Edguy-Hellfire Club, and Saxon-Lionheart

June 15
Flew to Madrid, Spain. Made a friend, Sara. Tried to sleep on the plane...the only way I could was to put my head on the traytable...person put their seat back...was very angry

June 16
We met our delegation leader person at the airport...her name was Katrin and she was from Austria...she was really nice! We got our bus and drove from the airport to Madrid...OMG there was graffiti everywhere! Insane!! We got our hotel rooms and soon left and went to the Royal Palace...it was sooo awesome and pretty! We had some free time around there...I don't remember how long though. I was admiring how different Europe was from the USA. Sara, Elisabeth and I walked down to this church. On the way there were these statue people...I saw them in France too! They were kinda creepy. The church was sooo pretty!!! I saw its bells and I wanted them to ring but they didn't. I also really wanted to go inside. I was afraid I wouldn't hear bells the whole trip. Hahaha. After that we went to lunch and the food was pretty good. I was really tired by now cause I had been up for over 24 hours. We got back on the bus and got a tour guide and had a tour of Madrid. I don't remember liking the tour guide. Everyone slept during the tour I think. I don't remember anything of it. Then we went to an art museum. UGH. I HATED IT OMG. I hate art museums AND THE TOUR GUIDE TALKED WAY TOO LONG ABOUT THINGS! By now my feet hurt a lot and I was practically falling asleep walking. Then we drove to go play soccer with a soccer team. On the way I saw someone wearing a Blind Guardian shirt. OH YEAH. Mostly everyone fell asleep on the way. We didn't have to play soccer. *phew* Waaaay too tired. Then we went to dinner and it was good. Then we went back to the hotel THANK GOODNESS. It was Holiday Inn...my roommate was Hanna and she was really nice. I also took pics of all the views of the hotels. This view was a half finished building with graffiti and the street. Oh and the shower...there was a half door so water got everywhere and there was a mirror right in front of you so you watched yourself take a shower. Very uncomfortable. Then I went to bed and probably fell asleep almost instantly

June 17th
We drove to Toledo. It wasn't very far from Madrid. Toledo is SO pretty! It's really historical and pretty and old and I loved the feel of it. First we went to a sword factory and a guy told us about it and then we got to look at swords! We could even buy them! I bought an awesome dagger. Then we ate lunch and a band came and performed for us for about 10 minutes. They were pretty good and I LOVED their clothes! Medievaaaaal. *drools* Then we walked to Toledo's main square and met up with the same tour guide from yesterday. We walked to a cathedral. *DROOLS* IT WAS SOOO PRETTY! We went inside...wow. Man it was GORGEOUS! We went to where the choir sings...ooooh the organs!!! I WANTED TO HEAR THEM OMG. THEY WERE SO BIG AND EPIC! There was lotsa Latin too! Whoo! Then we went into an art room. Oh JOY. I think our tour guide was obsessed with art CAUSE SHE TOOK THE LONGEST TIME TALKING ABOUT IT. There was a really huge and awesome painting on the ceiling though. We left after that. ARGH!! THAT IS NOT LONG ENOUGH TO BE IN A CATHEDRAL!!!! I didn't wanna leaaaaave! After that we drove to a bull farm. I just wanted to go inside the 300 year old church that was there. We got on trucks and drove to where the bulls were. That was painful. It was sooo bumpy and tree branches sometimes bumped into us. When we got there we went into a room and this guy talked for like 5 minutes about the bulls and then we drove back. That was annoying. There were storms around us and it sprinkled on us. We ate dinner at the house which was about 500 years old!! The food was alright. Oh, and we got dessert after every lunch and dinner. I loved that. Then we drove back to Madrid and went back to the hotel

June 18th
We drove to Zaragoza, which was about 4 hours from Madrid. The scenery on the way was very nice...lotsa green hills and mountains. Zaragoza was a beautiful city. We had lunch first...it was good. After that we walked to this square and had 2 hours free time. The square had three churches...one was HUGE and soooo beautiful!!! There was this colorful tile on the roof which I had never seen on a church before. I also saw lotsa people with awesome band shirts! Edguy yay!! Sara, Elisabeth and I walked around and explored. And the bells...wow I heard them a lot! I think they rang every half hour. I think the bells were from the big church. They were very pretty! Then we got a tour guide...she said 'hmm' like every 5 seconds! It was so annoying! We went inside the big church...oooomg it was way cooler than the one in Toledo. There was way more Latin. There was a pillar inside...it's said that the Virgin Mary appeared to St. James by the pillar. I think this was the church that 3 bombs were thrown through the roof but none exploded. Wooow. Then we went to a fortress built by the Muslums. It was pretty cool. Loved the architecture. Then we ate dinner and went to the hotel which was Holiday Inn again...with the same shower...the view was a boring building with a car

June 19
We drove to Barcelona, which was about 3 hours from Zaragoza. There was more nice scenery. We stopped to rest and I got the best chips EVER. I only found them in Spain though. On the way someone was singing POTO and she was sooo good!! When we got to Barcelona we had lunch...it was seafood. Gross. Then we went to the beach and had about 3 hours there. I've been in the Mediterranean Sea whoo!! Some girls took their tops off to swim. How do they not feel self consious?? People in Barcelona speak Catalan, a cross between French and Spanish. After the beach we walked some in Barcelona. We got to this big shopping place and had about 40 minutes free time there. There was a Micheal Jackson impersonator there. He was boring. Then we got back on the bus and two people were missing. The leaders freaked since it was a crowded place. We were relieved when they were found. Then we went to dinner and watched flamenco dancers! I liked it at first but at the end the loud music was just too overwhelming. My fave part was when this guy twirled his black cape with really awesome music playing. Reminded me of Zorro and POTO. After dinner we went to the hotel which was awesome!! It was called Gran Hotel Verdi and it was huge and elegant! The rooms were nice and had a nice view of the city

June 20
We went on a guided tour of Barcelona. The guide was really annoying. She talked too much. We went to a park and it was nice. Then we went to a church called La Sagrada Familia made by Gaudi...wooooow. The facade was AWESOME!! One side of the cathedral depicts Jesus' birth and the other His death. The cathedral still isn't finished yet. We went inside and there were holes in the ceiling and scaffolding and builders building and there were tons of people inside. I saw one place with cool stained glass but that was like the only thing inside that looked finished. I was dissapointed. Then we went to a basement thing and I was bored. After that we climbed up into the towers! It was so fun!! The person behind me was freaking out cause he's claustrophobic and afraid of heights. I tried to make him feel better. I loved the view at the top!! Sara and Elisabeth are also afraid of heights. Then we had lunch. More seafood. Ew. After that we had about an hour and 10 minutes free time. Sara, Elisabeth and I got fans. Mine is black with flowers on it. There was a church near us and I wanted to go inside but it was being renovated and I think it was closed. Then we went to a cultural market...it was ok. We ate dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. OH YEAH. I LOVE Hard Rock Cafe!! Every day the leaders picked 4 people to be the ambassadors of the day for the next day and they got to pick their seats on the bus...they picked me this time! Oh boy EMBARASSING. They all cheered really loud for me and I'm like *melts into seat* Then we went back to the hotel and had like 3 hours free time. Me, Sara and a few others went to find an Internet cafe. I was depressed that night. Of course when we found the cafe I didn't get a chance to go online. After curfew people were talking outside the hotel room and I was crying cause I felt so left out. In the morning I felt a little better I think. And that's Spain

Today's Latin: ita est (yes/it is so)

OMG I love reading about your Europe trip...you have more coming, right? Heehee. I can't wait to see your pictures & videos but I have to wait until I'm at my parents' or something, cuz with dial-up it will take forever. So yeah! The whole Europe thing sounded like so much fun, I wish I could have gone with you. Then you wouldn't have felt left out that one time, cuz I could have come talked to you! Haha.

The chicks who took their tops off to go swimming, were they Americans or Europeans? I know as far as nudity goes in general in Europe, it is just not considered a big deal at all in Europe the way it is here in America. I dunno, sometimes we're too uptight, I guess. *Shrug*

SOOO next time you go to Europe, I have three cathedrals to recommend to you! One of them is in Stroudsburg, France. It is AMAZING, the most amazing cathedral I have ever seen in my life. If I ever get around to getting my pictures of it online, I'll show it to you (who knows if that will happen though...). My other recommendation is Westminster Abbey - wait, have you been to London? I don't remember if you have or not. But Westminster Abbey is definitely a sight to see. The 3rd one is in Cologne, Germany, and I didn't actually see it, but Phil and my brother did and they have pictures - it looks stunning. I would love to see it in real life.

OH! AND I LOVED POTC 2 ALSO!!!!!!!! It was a fantastic movie. Yaaaaay! :)

Of course lol...if you thought Spain was long wait till you read about Carcassonne, France lol

They were Europeans

Yay cathedrals!!! I've been to Westminster Abbey...it was awesome!

Awesome, I'm glad you have been to Westminster Abbey! :)

I'm looking forward to reading about Carcassonne, yay!!!!

Oh, and 2 more things - one is if you haven't been to Westminster Abbey, and if you do end up going, make sure you stay to hear the Evensong by the choir. It's amazing and I think they sing it every evening as far as I know.

Annnndddd I am so sorry that you had to deal with that much seafood. Ew. :)

OMG I am totally inundating your entry with comments, I'm sorry! I just keep on forgetting things!

Yeah, I said that one cathedral was in Stroudsburg, France, that is NOT TRUE hahaha. I got Stroudsburg stuck in my head cuz my friend lives in East Stroubdburg, PA haha. No no, it's actually in STRAUSburg, France. Sorry about that haha. :)

[identity profile] glacier-kitty.livejournal.com 2006-07-09 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha ok, I'll look them up on Wikipedia!

Was this the cathedral in Germany you were talking about? It's AMAZING!

Oooo I don't know for certain if that's the right one, but from the looks of it, it is! Heehee, wow, that really is gorgeous. Amazingggg! One of these days I will get around to seeing it in person...Dylan and Phil are lucky that they have.

I'm looking forward to reading your other travelogs when I get a chance to really sit down & give them my utmost attention. :)

If you see Pirates again, stay to the end of the credits. There's something at the end, same as when the first came out. :)

POTC 2 and Hellfire Club are both the shiznit, in my humble opinion.
