Friday five
1. What is the favorite Halloween (fancy dress) costume you have ever seen? Legolas, etc
2. Would you rather walk through a graveyard at midnight or spend a night in a spooky abandoned old house? Walk through a graveyard at midnight
3. What Halloween candy (or candy in general) would you keep and what would you trade? I'd keep things like Smarties and Kit Kats, and trade anything with peanut butter and caramel lol
4. If you were stuck in a room with one horror movie villain, who would it be? No thanks D:
5. Have you ever been on a Haunted Hayride? Possibly, I can't remember for sure though
After 14 years as Executive Director of the Literacy Council, Mike is retiring. He's burned out and wants to just relax for awhile. Yesterday most everyone met the lady (Heidi) who is taking over for him..she seemed nice and capable. It'll be weird not having Mike around (lots of history he's seen!), but I'm sure he'll visit with Elias..he practically grew up at LCA and loves it there. Heidi has quite a lot to learn haha, but hopefully she'll enjoy being there (I'm also older than her O_o)

When I was in 3rd grade I wrote Titanic and Grapevine Mills on my desk! [OMG I remember that, my teacher was NOT happy lol.] I went to Camp 89er and got interested in Juniper trees. I went to the arboretum on Saterday. First we went to a place called the tropical trail. There was some cool plants in there. Then we went to a Greenhouse. There was a bannana tree, sago palms, a palm tree with realy realy realy realy big leavs, bouganvillas, a coffie tree, and others. Next we walked around and saw trumpet vines, Junipers, and others. Then we got in the car and drove to the Japanise gardens. We saw Bald Cypresses with knees. Knees are someting sent up from the roots if they are submerged under the water so they can brethe oxygen. Well I can’t tell you all of it. We didn’t even go to all the places because it was to big. Alot of plants. That’s telling you some of the things we did at the arboretum

We have a game called Mario Party 2. The characters are Mario, Luigi, DK (Donkey Kong), Wario, Peach, and Yoshi. Mario and Luigi are brothers. The lands are Bowser land, Horror land, Pirate land, Space land, Mystery land, and Western land. There is also a traning thing for beginners. The blue spaces give you 3 coins, 6 coins on the last 5 turns. The red spaces lose 3 coins, 6 coins on the last 5 turns. There are hidden blocks that give you 20 coins on a Power Star. I can’t talk about all of it. That’s just some of the things about Mario Party 2

The Kingdom of Plants
Chapter 1: The Bully
One apon a time there was a land where all the trees and plants could talk. It was called The Kingdom of Plants. They could also walk and do everything we do. One day a sycamore tree named Sally was walking with 2 LiquidAmbars named Lara and Laren. They were walking down Juniper Street when they spotted the bully of the town. The town was called Tree City. The tree was a Red Oak named Robert. He thought he was the best because he had beautiful fall colors. Nobody liked him. He didn’t go to school because he thought he was so cool
“Oh no! Not Robert” Sally said
“Let’s get out of here!” Lara and Lauren said
So they ran and ran untill they got to Wax Myrtle Street. There they met up with another friend, a Bradford pear named Bill
“Hi Bill” Sally said
“Hi Sally. Hi Lara. Hi Lauren”
Sally, Lara and Lauren had alot of friends. When they were walking down Bald Cypress Street they met up with another friend, an Osage Orange named Oscar
“Let’s go to the mall” Oscar said. They all agreed. They went to the Tree Mall. There they all hung out and ate Juniper berries and Osage Orange seeds. [Cannibal trees, nice! O_o] Then they whent to the Gardening Place. At the gardening shop they found another one of their friends looking at a bonsai Juniper named Jenny. Their friend was a ponderosa pine named Patty. After the mall trip they went to see a movie called a Trees life. There they saw another friend, a Dogwood named David. They ate acorns and blueberries
After the movie they just took a walk to enjoy themselfs. There they met a fir tree named Franccesca. They had a great time seeing all the plants and flowers and trees. Then they took a long nap. They woke up to see it was raining. They loved rain. But then what they didn’t want was Robert the bully heading straight for them
“Hey stupid-heads get out of my way!” Robert said. The group of friends ran and ran. Then they ran into another friend, an ash tree named Amanda
“Run! Robert’s coming!” Sally said. So the group of 9 ran and ran. But Robert was gaining on them. Robert caught Patty
“HELP ME!” Patty said. So Oscar punched Robert so hard he punched a hole in [him]
“Owwwch!” Robert said. Oscar was proud

Chapter 2: The Bad Storm
When they all walked away they are were cheering and thanking Oscar for what he did
“Good job Oscar!” David said
When they were walking to their houses to watch their favorite show “Super Tree Man” they met up with another friend, a crape myrtle named Callie
“Hi Callie. We are going to watch our favorite show. Do you want to?” Sally said. She said yes. So when they turned the tv on they found the weather channel instead. They only had 1 channel. The friends all called each other up. So they decided to watch it. The weather man was a live oak named Lenny. Lenny said that there was going to be a bad storm in a few hours. So the friends decided to go to Bill’s house. When they were all there the doorbell rang. When Bill opend the door they saw another friend. It was a golden rain tree named Glen
“Hi Bill. Can I stay here to wait out the storm? I hate being alone in storms. I always go to friends houeses”
“Yes you can” Bill said. So he came in and went inside. Lenny said that the weather would get worse as the day went on. Glen screamed. He said he never has been in that bad of a storm before. Then a few minutes later the doorbell rang again. When Bill opened the door, another friend was there. It was a maple tree named Molly
“Hi Bill. I need shelter. My house is made of sticks”
“What do you do when all the storms are over? You don’t have a house” Bill said
“I rebuild it” Molly said [ummm..WTF. Cannibals and their own body parts for houses?? Oh my :P]
So they came inside. Lenny said the storm would hit in 1 hour. So they all went to the basement. When they got down to the basement the storm hit. They couldent hear anything. Outside the thunder and lightning was loud and bright. Also one of their friends was outside taking her pet shrub for a walk when the storm hit. The friend was a magnolia tree named Melissa
“AHHH! Get me out of the storm. I need shelter.” The shrub was a photinia named Phillip. They took shelter in a playplace where it was safe
At Bill’s house Lara and Laren looked out of the window and saw lightning. Sally was playing a game called Treehouse Climb. The reason they took 1 hour to go to the basement is they can’t walk down stairs very well [I was wondering about that :P]
After the storm they went out of the basement and outside. They saw Melissa and Chelsea run over to them
“Bill we need you! A tree got struck by lightning, it’s one of our friends!” So the[y] ran and ran to where their friend was. It was a Jacaranda tree named John. So the friends put him on a strecher and carried him to the Hospital for trees, plants and flowers. The nurses treated him

Chapter 3: The Visit From a Cousin
When the nurses treated him they glued the cut. Then they put a bandage on John. After he woke up the nurse said to leave the bandage on for 2 weeks. The nurse said he could go home to a friend’s house to take care of him. Then he could go to his own house. Franseccia decided to take him to her house. When they were walking home they met up with another friend, a cherry tree named Cathy
“Hi Cathy. We are taking John to Fransescca’s house” Lara said. Cathy decided to go. After a long walk they finally got there. When they all got inside Franccesca said John had to go to bed for a few hours, then he could get up. When he walked of[f] the doorbell rang. When Fransescca opened the door a friend was there. It was a palm tree named Phyllis
“Hi Fransescca. I need to see Oscar, if he’s here”
“Yes he’s here. Come in.” So she came in
“Oscar come here” Fransescca said. Oscar came over to them
“Yes?”
“Phyllis needs you” Fransescca said
“You have a phone call” Phyllis said
Oscar was exited. “Who could it be?” Oscar wondered to himself. He was very exited
Phyllis said that his call was from a cousin. But she didn’t know who it was because the cousin wanted to keep it a secret and a surprise for Oscar. So Phyllis gave Oscar the phone number
“Oscar the cousin wanted you to call as soon as posible” Phyllis said. Oscar called right away
“Hi Oscar!” It turned out that his cousin was a peach tree named Paul
“Hi Paul” Oscar said
“Oscar I’m coming to visit you for an intire month!” After a long conversation he hung up the phone. Then he got even more exited. He got so exited he screamed to everybody “my cousin named Paul is coming to visit for a month! He is a peach tree so you can eat some of his fruit!” [O___o]
“Oscar we aren’t deaf. You don’t have to scream. I have sensitive ears” Molly said
“Sorry I’m so exited. When I get exited I scream. Paul is going to be here in a few hours” Oscar said
John woke up and walked over to the group. “What’s all the screaming about?”
“My cousin Paul is coming over. He is a peach tree. You can eat some of his fruit” Oscar said. Phyllis was happy too
A few hours later Paul called from the tree airport for Oscar to come pick him up. Because in a tree’s life there was no cars they had to walk everywhere (except traviling realy long distances). On the way to the airport they met another friend, a floss silk tree named Frank. “Where are you going?”
“We are going to the airport to pick up Oscar’s cousin” Melissa said. Frank decided to come with them. When they got there Paul was waiting there. Oscar went running over to Paul. After the group ate [peaches] they went over to Oscar’s house. They decided to play Treehouse Climb. After the game they heard the doorbell ring. When Oscar opend it another friend was there. It was a redbud tree named Rachele
“Hi Oscar. Can I come in?”
“Yes you can”
Rachele asked everybody if they wanted to go for a walk. The group agreed. When they were walking they met up with another friend. It was a redwood named Randy. Randy went to go for the walk with them. When they got back to Oscar’s house Callie had an idea
“Do you want to go to my house to jump on my realy realy big trampoline? Only seven at a time.” The group agreed. When they were walking to Callie’s house they met up with another friend. [Wow, they do have a lot of friends. :P] It was a weeping willow named Wilma
“Hi Willma. Do you want to go to my house to jump on my realy realy big trampoline? Only seven at a time.” Willma said yes
W[h]en they got there Callie said that her, Oscar, Paul, Wilma, Rachel, Phyllis, and Sally could go on first. They could jump for 2 hours. They had a contest to see who could jump the highest. They had a contest every tim[e] that the next group went on. Then they would jump. The trampoline was very bouncy. They were having fun. Callie said that it was time for the contest. Rachel won. The [trees] that win go with the next group. Then after the last group all the winners go up against each other. That winner gets to think of what they do next. After jumping, Callie said their time was up. The next group was Rachele, Amanda, Glen, Patty, Molly, Frank, and David
“I am going to jump away from everybody so they won’t get pricked” Frank said [floss silk trees’ trunks are very spiny]
“Good idea” Amanda said. So they got on the trampoline and jumped. Amanda was realy exited. When they were jumping and having a good time Callie said it was contest time. Amanda won. After they jumped Callie said it was time for the next group. The next group was Fransescca, Laura and Lauren, Cathy, John, Mellissa and Phillip. Cathy said she’d never been on a trampoline before
“Contest time!” Callie said. Fransescca won
“That’s everybody” Callie sad
Amanda said she wanted to go to her house to go in her pool to cool off. So they walked to her house to put on their bathin[g]sutis
[Chapter 4 is the trees going to each others’ houses and doing stuff, and I’m going to skip it because it’s VERY repetitive and tedious lol]
2-6-01 to 2-13-01
Chapter 5: The Visit to the Bahamas
Sally said they were going to a human place called the Bahamas. They got so exited
“We are going to the Bahamas? That is so cool, because I have always wanted to go there” Fransescca said. Sally said they had to wear human cloths. So they dressed like humans. Sally said they were going on a cruse called Disney Magic. They packed their bags and walked all the way to the harbor. They blended perfectly with the people. When they saw the ship they thought it was one of the biggest things they ever saw. They got on and after [that] they waved. They were off to the Bahamas. They were very exited
After a few hours on the cruse they reached Nassau - the capital of the Bahamas. They wanted to go there because that’s where the Baha Men were. They checked into the hotel called The Royal Bahamian. They found their room and put their stuff down. Then Sally said in a few hours they would look for the Baha Men
Phyllis said “there is palm trees like me!”
“We know that” Sally said
They decided to eat. They ate Juniper berries and Osage Orange seeds. [Why are these trees such cannibals?? Haha] Then it was time to look for the Baha Men. They were exited. Sally asked someone where they would find the Baha Men. He said that they would have to get tickets at the store. So they went to the store and got tickets. The concert would be in 2 hours. It would take place a mile at a concert place. So they walked a mile (it took them 1 hour and 56 min.). When they got there they went in and found their seats. They had front row seats! They got there early (amazing for trees!) and could talk. They heard someone say that the concert is starting! They were exited
The Baha Men came onstage and said their names. They said they were going to play Who Let the Dogs Out? The whole group screamed. They started singing…with them. While they were singing, the Baha Men touched each one of the groups hands (or branches. They’re trees!). Patty almost fainted
Phyllis screamed “I love you Baha Men!”…
They said after the[y] finished that song they were going to play You All Dat…they liked that song too. When they were done singing, and the concert was over they went and bought some Baha Men shirts. They walked back to the hotel and changed into their Baha Men shirts. Then they went outside and sat under some palm trees (Phyllis liked that alot, because she’s a palm tree). After that they took a walk to see what the Bahamas looked like. After a stroll in Nassau…Sally said they were going home in a few hours…
Chapter 6: The Jorney Back Home
When they were done eating a tasty meal of blueberries and Osage Orange seeds, they got packed up for the cruse to take them home…Phyllis said bye to the palm trees…they even said bye to the Baha Men! After the group said bye…they walked to the port where the cruse ship is. They got on the cruse, and then were on their way home…when they got home they were so happy. They met up with Robert the bully. He was bandaged up from when Oscar punched him. But he ran away from them, terrified
“Yeah! He’s not going to mess with us again!” Oscar said
“Yeah!” they cheered. They all lived a good life

“Hi Fransescca. I need to see Oscar, if he’s here”
“Yes he’s here. Come in.” So she came in
“Oscar come here” Fransescca said. Oscar came over to them
“Yes?”
“Phyllis needs you” Fransescca said
“You have a phone call” Phyllis said
Oscar was exited. “Who could it be?” Oscar wondered to himself. He was very exited
Phyllis said that his call was from a cousin. But she didn’t know who it was because the cousin wanted to keep it a secret and a surprise for Oscar. So Phyllis gave Oscar the phone number
“Oscar the cousin wanted you to call as soon as posible” Phyllis said. Oscar called right away
“Hi Oscar!” It turned out that his cousin was a peach tree named Paul
“Hi Paul” Oscar said
“Oscar I’m coming to visit you for an intire month!” After a long conversation he hung up the phone. Then he got even more exited. He got so exited he screamed to everybody “my cousin named Paul is coming to visit for a month! He is a peach tree so you can eat some of his fruit!” [O___o]
“Oscar we aren’t deaf. You don’t have to scream. I have sensitive ears” Molly said
“Sorry I’m so exited. When I get exited I scream. Paul is going to be here in a few hours” Oscar said
John woke up and walked over to the group. “What’s all the screaming about?”
“My cousin Paul is coming over. He is a peach tree. You can eat some of his fruit” Oscar said. Phyllis was happy too
A few hours later Paul called from the tree airport for Oscar to come pick him up. Because in a tree’s life there was no cars they had to walk everywhere (except traviling realy long distances). On the way to the airport they met another friend, a floss silk tree named Frank. “Where are you going?”
“We are going to the airport to pick up Oscar’s cousin” Melissa said. Frank decided to come with them. When they got there Paul was waiting there. Oscar went running over to Paul. After the group ate [peaches] they went over to Oscar’s house. They decided to play Treehouse Climb. After the game they heard the doorbell ring. When Oscar opend it another friend was there. It was a redbud tree named Rachele
“Hi Oscar. Can I come in?”
“Yes you can”
Rachele asked everybody if they wanted to go for a walk. The group agreed. When they were walking they met up with another friend. It was a redwood named Randy. Randy went to go for the walk with them. When they got back to Oscar’s house Callie had an idea
“Do you want to go to my house to jump on my realy realy big trampoline? Only seven at a time.” The group agreed. When they were walking to Callie’s house they met up with another friend. [Wow, they do have a lot of friends. :P] It was a weeping willow named Wilma
“Hi Willma. Do you want to go to my house to jump on my realy realy big trampoline? Only seven at a time.” Willma said yes
W[h]en they got there Callie said that her, Oscar, Paul, Wilma, Rachel, Phyllis, and Sally could go on first. They could jump for 2 hours. They had a contest to see who could jump the highest. They had a contest every tim[e] that the next group went on. Then they would jump. The trampoline was very bouncy. They were having fun. Callie said that it was time for the contest. Rachel won. The [trees] that win go with the next group. Then after the last group all the winners go up against each other. That winner gets to think of what they do next. After jumping, Callie said their time was up. The next group was Rachele, Amanda, Glen, Patty, Molly, Frank, and David
“I am going to jump away from everybody so they won’t get pricked” Frank said [floss silk trees’ trunks are very spiny]
“Good idea” Amanda said. So they got on the trampoline and jumped. Amanda was realy exited. When they were jumping and having a good time Callie said it was contest time. Amanda won. After they jumped Callie said it was time for the next group. The next group was Fransescca, Laura and Lauren, Cathy, John, Mellissa and Phillip. Cathy said she’d never been on a trampoline before
“Contest time!” Callie said. Fransescca won
“That’s everybody” Callie sad
Amanda said she wanted to go to her house to go in her pool to cool off. So they walked to her house to put on their bathin[g]sutis

Chapter 5: The Visit to the Bahamas
Sally said they were going to a human place called the Bahamas. They got so exited
“We are going to the Bahamas? That is so cool, because I have always wanted to go there” Fransescca said. Sally said they had to wear human cloths. So they dressed like humans. Sally said they were going on a cruse called Disney Magic. They packed their bags and walked all the way to the harbor. They blended perfectly with the people. When they saw the ship they thought it was one of the biggest things they ever saw. They got on and after [that] they waved. They were off to the Bahamas. They were very exited
After a few hours on the cruse they reached Nassau - the capital of the Bahamas. They wanted to go there because that’s where the Baha Men were. They checked into the hotel called The Royal Bahamian. They found their room and put their stuff down. Then Sally said in a few hours they would look for the Baha Men
Phyllis said “there is palm trees like me!”
“We know that” Sally said
They decided to eat. They ate Juniper berries and Osage Orange seeds. [Why are these trees such cannibals?? Haha] Then it was time to look for the Baha Men. They were exited. Sally asked someone where they would find the Baha Men. He said that they would have to get tickets at the store. So they went to the store and got tickets. The concert would be in 2 hours. It would take place a mile at a concert place. So they walked a mile (it took them 1 hour and 56 min.). When they got there they went in and found their seats. They had front row seats! They got there early (amazing for trees!) and could talk. They heard someone say that the concert is starting! They were exited
The Baha Men came onstage and said their names. They said they were going to play Who Let the Dogs Out? The whole group screamed. They started singing…with them. While they were singing, the Baha Men touched each one of the groups hands (or branches. They’re trees!). Patty almost fainted
Phyllis screamed “I love you Baha Men!”…
They said after the[y] finished that song they were going to play You All Dat…they liked that song too. When they were done singing, and the concert was over they went and bought some Baha Men shirts. They walked back to the hotel and changed into their Baha Men shirts. Then they went outside and sat under some palm trees (Phyllis liked that alot, because she’s a palm tree). After that they took a walk to see what the Bahamas looked like. After a stroll in Nassau…Sally said they were going home in a few hours…
Chapter 6: The Jorney Back Home
When they were done eating a tasty meal of blueberries and Osage Orange seeds, they got packed up for the cruse to take them home…Phyllis said bye to the palm trees…they even said bye to the Baha Men! After the group said bye…they walked to the port where the cruse ship is. They got on the cruse, and then were on their way home…when they got home they were so happy. They met up with Robert the bully. He was bandaged up from when Oscar punched him. But he ran away from them, terrified
“Yeah! He’s not going to mess with us again!” Oscar said
“Yeah!” they cheered. They all lived a good life
