Barrow: The principal city of the Inupiat. Barrow is located on Alaska's North Slope just west of Point Barrow, the area's most prominent geographical feature, named for an official of the British Admiralty. Today, Barrow has about thirty-five hundred residents, and is both a government services headquarters and a whaling center
