We’re in France! It took about two hours. We went to this place where people were excavating this cave. There was a river there and we got to go swimming! It was sooo fun!! Someone almost drowned though…it was so scary! [He didn't know how to swim but jumped in anyway?? The leaders were not happy with him and he had to apologize to everyone at the end of the day for causing everyone to panic.] Besides that everyone had tons of fun. Then we walked up a steep hill to this cave. OMG I about died! It was sooo tiring and my legs hurt so bad!! We got to see the place they were excavating…I saw some bones. Then we went into a place and a person talked about bones they excavated. Then this guy talked about skulls and human evolution. It was boring. There was this spear throwing thing and I was horrible at it. Then we left and we’re going to the hotel now which is about 2 hours away. We’re gonna eat dinner there too. I’ll write more tomorrow

Our hotel is AWESOME! We got here last night and we’re staying tonight too. It’s SO fancy looking and reminds me of an opera house.

The view is awesome too! I love the sound of Europe’s cities. I had to take three pics of the view cause of all the awesome buildings.

I dunno what city we’re in and if I did I dunno if I could spell it. Write later

We just went to Carcassonne, a medieval city. The name means “ring a bell” which is AWESOME.

It’s where they filmed Robin Hood: Prince of Theves. I’ll have to watch it when I get home to see if I recognize anything. We had a guided tour there…the tour guide was very animated and she thought her English was bad but I thought it was pretty good. We went to this church and the outside was pretty cool but the inside was GORGEOUS! And you could take pictures! There were beautiful stained glass windows. Ooo gotta go - write later

The whole city we’re in is Carcassonne! Yay bell city! Where I left off…the church…there were beautiful stained glass windows and there was church music playing and I was so at peace.

Then we saw more of the city and had about 40 minutes free time. Then we had lunch and then had about an hour more free time in the medieval city! I could go there every day!! Then we did a community service project…our group sorted and folded clothes. It was soo hot and it smelled so bad but at least I was helping people. Then we went back to the hotel and had about 2 1/2 hours free time and had dinner. MORE GROSS SEAFOOD AHHH!!! [I'll never forget the look of awe on the waitress's face after we quickly demolished all the desserts haha.] And we had more free time till curfew at 11. And now I’m going to bed cause I have to get up at 6. Write more tommorrow

This morning we left Carcassonne *tear sob cry* (it’s my favorite city so far!) and drove to Nimes (wow I hope that’s spelled right). We saw a Roman amplitheater that looked a lot like the Colisseum in Rome, a church (didn’t go in though), and there was another thing but it was under repair or something.

Then we saw a Roman aquaduct [Pont du Gard]…it’s *really* old. [It was built in the 1st century AD!]

There was a river that ran under it and it was so blue and I wanted to go swimming so bad. And now we are driving to where our homestays are. I wonder what my family will be like?
OMG…seriously everywhere I look these two preppy people are there…IT’S SO ANNOYING…I’m sitting next to one on the bus right now…AHH!!!!! *explodes* *turns music up* Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill) by Blind Guardian YEAAAH! \m/
Today has been one of the only sunny days we’ve had…the other sunny day was the first day. It’s HOT…like Luca! Ha! [Whut LOL] I’m using the window cover thing as a screen so I don’t have to see the preppy people…I WIN! And I can lip sing and no one can see me! *rocks out majorly*
I WANNA GO BACK TO CARCASSONNE! OMG Requiem the Fifth…Dadadadaaaa…YAY BEETHOVEN! Wow there’s lots of rivers here. I’M NERVOUS ABOUT MEETING MY HOMESTAY FAMILY OMG. I’m hyper…ROCK OOON!!! I BLAME IT ON LUCA! *rocks out to his solo* Haha man this CD is epic. I SHALL NAME IT THE EPIC CD OF SHINYNESS! YAY BATTLEFIELD! My fave song ever…by Blind Guardian. There’s four people in the family. The mom doesn’t speak English, the dad does kinda, the little boy doesn’t, and the teenage girl isn’t fluent but she speaks English well. They let me go online last night! I emailed mom and updated my online journal and they have a webcam!! I talked to Ross from England and he saw me on webcam and it was embarassing cause it was my first time. I want a webcam! They also let me do some laundry which I REALLY needed! We’re going to a medieval village now! YAY! I got the family talking about Carcassonne lmao. Write later

We just went to the medieval city. We hardly went anywhere. It was kinda boring since Sara and Elisabeth weren’t there (their family lives too far away to come). There was a church and I went inside and I felt the overwhelming presence of God. It was wonderful. There were four bells that I saw on the top of it! Now we’re going back to the families. Write later
4:06 PM
Well the mom of the family picked us up and got Theo from school (school on a Saturday!!) and we went to their house and we played Uno…A LOT. I heard these bells and the daughter said it was from the church where people got married. They were awesomeee…I wanted to be there so bad. We ate lunch and had pizza and it was SOOO good! I noticed there’s hardly any obese people here. And the food is much healthier here. Anyway, we’re at the beach now. It’s nice. Oh yeah, the family has a dog named Blackie. He’s really nice and likes to be pet. OOOMG there’s a woman topless near me…er two women! *phew* They put their tops back on. Write later

Earlier Kara (the mom) took us to the local market and she bought some things. It was nice and she talked to her friends. She looked very happy. While we were there I heard the most BEAUTIFUL church bells I’ve ever heard!!! They sounded for about 2 or 3 minutes! Then Kara let us go inside the church! On the top I saw 6 bells! Inside was nice and the most EPIC church music was playing. Then as we were walking back to the apartment I heard them again!! Even Jenny agreed they were really beautiful. Too bad I didn’t bring my camera. 12:00 is soon so I hope they sound again and I hope I can take a video. Theo has been in his underwear all morning…ew. I don’t like him much…he talks, A LOT. [Wtf.. :/] We’ve been playing Uno…A LOT. Write later
12:57 PM
A quick update - BELLS OMG. They sounded a few minutes ago. OMG they’re loud enough to hear in the apartment, eee! I took a video (though I was kinda late - we were eating lunch) and it’s kinda bad. Tonight they said we could go back to the church so I could take pictures!! Eee! I WANT TO ACTUALLY SEE THE BELLS WHEN THEY’RE RINGING! EE…I’m ok. I AM GOING TO LISTEN TO CAROL OF THE BELLS NOW. Write later

They’re actually stuck in my head most of the time. Earlier it was Carol of the Bells (surprising, I know). This is our last full day with this family. I dunno what time we’re meeting up with the others. I’m hungry. I’m forgetting how to speak proper English. Maaan the food Kara’s cooking smells good. I shall write more tomorrow

We’ve now left our homestay families. *tear* Last night they let me go online…I really needed to. Everyone wanted me to kiss their cheeks cause that’s how they say hi and bye…I hugged them instead. I gave the daughter my MSN address so we can keep in touch, yay! [I never heard from her after that..sad!] We’re now going to the city of Nice which is about two hours away. I bet it’s nice haha. Oh, and I showed the daughter a pic of Frank DellaPenna and I and she asked if he was my boyfriend. Ahh!!! Last night while trying to sleep I had those church bells stuck in my head…it was really annoying. Write later

Whoo busy day man. We got to Nice (pronounced Neice) and had lunch. MORE GROSS SEAFOOD. Then we met up with a tour guide and toured Nice and later Cannes (pronounced Can). I really liked her. She talked a lot but it didn’t bother me for some reason. She was talking about something and it sounded like “bell epic”…oook. First we saw this Russian church [St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral]…it was very beautiful and different.

We didn’t go inside cause it was closed. Then we went to another church and we went inside and it was very beautiful. The city is near the beach and the water was so blue!!

Then we went to Cannes, where the Cannes Film Festival is held. We went bowling after the tour (we’re gonna meet with the same tour guide tomorrow…she knows tons of languages! I know she knows French, English, Italian, and Spanish!). It was fun even though I’m kinda bad. Then we ate dinner and went to the hotel. Sara is my roommate!! Ok, I gotta get up at 6:15 so I shall write more tomorrow
