I'm sorry this happened to you. I think Kathy should have been more understanding when you told her it was because of the autism - for me it's not an excuse, but a fact that you're working on. With my disability, I always make sure to tell people about it upfront, just so that there won't be any misunderstandings. People used to think me arrogant just because I didn't react to someone talking to me from across the room and I never ever want this to happen again.
