Nineteen Eighty-Four is one of those novels that people are still trying to misattribute the meaning of more than fifty years after it was published. The scary thing is that, date aside (and there is much to indicate that the central character had no idea what the date really was), the predictions of the novel have proven scarily accurate. Language modification has probably been the biggest factor in the divisions between various tiers of society since 1990 or thereabouts.
