Heck yeah!! HammerFall always releases great new music. :D I can't wait to download their album (my new computer doesn't have a CD slot) in a few days!

Animaniacs or Tiny Toons Adventure? Why? )

Ever since reading Game of Thrones certain phrases (dark wings, dark words for one) and song titles (Take the Black, etc) have stood out to me..so I decided to research and this is what I found..

"Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken"-HammerFall
The album's title was inspired by the family motto of the fictional House Martell of Dorne from the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R. R. Martin, as well as the name of the songs "Take the Black" and "Fury of the Wild". The lyric "Nothing burns like the cold" from "Never, Ever" is taken from the first chapter of A Game of Thrones, the first book in the series

"Threshold"-HammerFall
As with several songs on the previous album, the song "Dark Wings, Dark Words" is inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire

"At the Edge of Time"-Blind Guardian
War of the Thrones: Based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.
A Voice in the Dark: Based on George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. It tells the story of Bran Stark, a key character in the series.

"Gods of the Earth"-The Sword
"To Take the Black" is a direct reference to the Night's Watch in George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire

Wow..that is just awesome haha. I always wondered what Take the Black meant..now I know. :P I love that the bands I listen to sing about books I like :D /nerd (I wonder if there are any more..)

Would you rather occasionally and intentionally treat people you care about like dirt or occasionally and intentionally ignore them when they need you? The first one..then I would apologize and say I was having a bad day or something..

Today's trivia: Eyelashes last about 150 days

Today the executive director of the Literacy Council was showing these people around..one of them saw me and was like "I remember you, I sat next to you on that flight to Anchorage!" I was confused at first then remembered he was with a lady I was sitting next to. Soooo weirdd haha. Alaska is so small :P

Both HammerFall's and Tyr's albums come out June 7..what a great birthday present. :D Haha (I think Rhapsody's comes out July too!)

Mmm it smells good outside *drools*

Day 71 - A picture of you with people you work with )

Would you rather eat a raw steak that has been left on a busy road for an hour or drink a glass that has been slowly poured through the wig of a sweaty woman with dandruff? Drink the glass (Whoever comes up with these questions has a disturbed mind haha)

Today's trivia: After the most recent North American glacier ended its southward advance about 11,000 years ago, it took more than 4,000 years for the mile deep ice mass to melt from the present site of Hartford, Connecticut, to that of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, a distance of 190 miles

My Seattle trip is TOMORROW. I've been thinking it's this Friday this whole time. Heather commented on my LJ saying she'd see me tomorrow..I stared at the screen and was like "TOMORROW? ...oh jeez!" haha. HammerFall has FOUR opening bands..oww my feet are gonna huuurt (though hopefully standing a lot at work has helped my feet build strength). I realllly hope the weather is good enough to see things *goes to rush to pack haha*

Would you rather spend the day swimming with dolphins or take a long ride on an elephant? Swim with dolphins

Today's trivia: Some male songbirds sing more than 2,000 times a day

I bought my airplane tickets to Seattle for the HammerFall concert. :D Here is my schedule:

Depart Fairbanks Wed, Mar 24 at 7:15 am
Get to Seattle at 11:50 am

Depart Seattle Thu, Mar 25 at 12:55 pm
Get to Fairbanks at 3:35 pm

Getting up that early is gonna be so much fun. :P But it was the simplest one I could do without having to go to Anchorage or getting there too late. Of course I got window seats haha. Hopefully I'll get to see some of Seattle before the concert. Heather (oh my two Heathers together haha) has a VIP ticket for me so I don't have to pay for tickets. :D Wooo I'm seeing HammerFallll!

I don't understand why some Fairbanks restaurants are closed on Mondays but open on Sundays..but it's inconvenient..and odd

Would you rather always have a lot of crust around your eyes or always have green crust around your nostrils? Crust around my eyes

Today's trivia: Floccinaucinihilipilification is a long word meaning "the action of estimating something as worthless"
glacier_kitty: (glacier - moraines)
I'm thinking about seeing HammerFall in Seattle on March 24. I looked up flights and I could leave Fairbanks at 1 PM on March 24 and get into Seattle at 5:28 PM (the concert is at 8 I think). I could leave the next day at 12:55 PM and get into Fairbanks at 3:35 PM. Of course I'd need to find a place to stay, have enough hours at work to leave, money (I can probably manage that though) and stuff. It would be sweet if I could go though

FYE in Fairbanks is going out of business..aw man. It was such a good store..

Would you rather never be able to cut your fingernails or never be able to cut your toenails? Ew..I guess toenails

Today's trivia: In 1014, Viking ships pulled down and destroyed the London Bridge

What's the most-played song in your music library?

"Never Ever" by HammerFall. It has 32 plays haha. It's been in that spot quite awhile :P

I have work off today since it's Labor Day..woo!

Today's trivia: People laugh least in the first hour after waking up in the morning (haha that totally made me burst out laughing for some reason!)
glacier_kitty: (luca - unholy warcry)
One of the restaurants in Fairbanks burned down! It must have happened after I got home cause I go by the restaurant on the way home and it was fine. I had never eaten there but mom told me the food wasn't good. Everyone got out ok and they plan to rebuild. I'll have to see what it looks like now when I go to work tomorrow (or if I go to town today)

Yesterday I bought HammerFall's new CD, "No Sacrifice, No Victory" (well pre-ordered), "Reckoning Night" by Sonata Arctica, "The Dark Saga" by Iced Earth, "Theater of Salvation" by Edguy and "Damnation Game" by Symphony X. I hadn't bought CDs in awhile haha

walking on the frozen river! )

Fish wheel: A fish wheel is a set of arms with scoops at the end, mounted on a raft and anchored in a river. The current pushing against the arms forces them to rotate, and they reach in turn to the river and scoop up fish. Fish wheels are used on the Copper and Yukon rivers, and on some Yukon tributaries

Happy birthday to meee. Yesterday I got THREE packages haha. I got the Ayreon CD I ordered, "Renegade" by HammerFall from Dana (I gave my copy to someone else awhile ago), cards from Grandma Mills, Aunt Gina, Aunt Julie and her kids, and this little notebook thing that describes where Heather came from. Today I got a $100 amazon giftcard from Dana!! Whoaaaa :D

Mom's still sleeping or something haha. Maybe she'll surprise me with something?

Another person leaves HammerFall..this time it's Stefan..mannn. He got offered a job as an airplane pilot. Hopefully they'll get another great guitarist but still. You can read about it here: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=94060

Today's stupidest quote: Sweet Macapuno Balls (gelatinous mutant coconut). (Menu item in South Korea)

Gelatinous...MUTANT...COCONUT...BWAHAHAHA

Magnus won't be in HammerFall anymore! He left cause he wants to be more creative or something. I wonder what bassist they're gonna have now..

The Mummy Returns soundtrack came...that was faaaast haha

Midterms are here! Tomorrow is economics (that's actually a final since it's only a 9 week class) and tech theater..Friday is Latin and BCIS

Leave a comment and I'll assign you a letter. You are to list your ten favorite songs that begin with that letter in your journal

I got W..let's see here..
"War of the Universe"-Luca Turilli
"When the Lights are Down"-Kamelot
"Wish Liszt (Toy Shop Madness)"-Trans-Siberian Orchestra
"Wizards in Winter"-Trans-Siberian Orchestra
"When Johnny Comes Marching Home"-Frank DellaPenna
"Whisper"-Evanescence
"What is Christmas?"-Trans-Siberian Orchestra
"Warriors of the World United"-Manowar
"Warrior of Ice"-Rhapsody
"Witchfinder General"-Saxon

Today's Latin: ioci causa (for the sake of a joke)

"My silver moon unveil the manor, the secret door hiding the treasure of old energies forgotten"--"Shades of Eternity," Dreamquest
glacier_kitty: (Default)
I listened to Threshold yesterday...it's really good!! HammerFall is getting better on every new album \m/

People are gonna ask me what I did over Thanksgiving Break..."I listened To Gloria in Excelsis Deo!!" Haha

Today's Latin: extra iocum (all joking aside)

"Soon the judgement bell will toll, I'll take back everything they stole. I'm the judge, the hammer falls, liberty and metal for all"--"Shadow Empire," HammerFall
glacier_kitty: (Default)
Yesterday I went to the mall and got four CDs: Missa Solemnis by Beethoven, Threshold by HammerFall, A Twist in the Myth by Blind Guardian, and Heavy Metal Thunder by Saxon. A Twist in the Myth is SO AWESOME!!! Blind Guardian is amazing!! It's definitely my favorite of their CDs I've heard. I also listened to some of Beethoven's CD. It's pretty good so far

Yesterday I put on Gloria in Excelsis Deo and then like two seconds later the TV played it! It was SCARY

We sang Faith is the Victory at church today!! YAY CHRISTIAN BATTLE SONGS!!!

Today's Latin: bonum vinum laetificat cor hominis (good wine gladdens a person's heart)

"Gloria in excelsis Deo et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis"--"Gloria in Excelsis Deo"

School...

School starts on August 14th...I kinda wanna go back...just for Latin 3 and 4 though...well for old friends too. I'll have to take PE and speech though *shudders*

I posted that pic of me with the bell on the HammerFall forum and someone made the funniest comment EVER...I love the HF forum

I'm obsessed with Dreamquest! I hope Luca makes all his new CDs that awesome!!

I'm gonna do this Friday Five thing...it's a community where every Friday they ask five questions...since I missed it yesterday I'll do it now

five for my queen... )

Today's Latin: non semper erit aestas (it will not always be summer). Yeah, thanks. I needed to know that..

"Ancient cathedral, speak of your era, capture my free mind"--"Gothic Vision," Dreamquest (yes please!)
glacier_kitty: (Default)
Cor metallicum discindere difficile est!! That's "a metal heart is hard to tear apart" in Latin...it's gonna be on the back of HammerFall's new shirt! I must get it!!

I looked up the lyrics to The Bells of Notre Dame and I knew there was Latin from Dies Irae in it but when I saw what they were I about died...

Dies irae, dies illa (Day of wrath, that day)
Solvet saeclum in favilla (Shall consume the world in ashes)
Teste David cum sibylla (As prophesied by David and the sibyl)
Quantus tremor est futurus (What trembling is to be)
Quando Judex est venturus (When the Judge is come)

For those who don't know those two lines are in Rhapsody's Agony is my Name. I guess Luca knows about Dies Irae. Whoever told me "quantus tremor est futurus" ment "however trembling is absurd" really didn't know their Latin. They also said "quando Judex est venturus" ment "however Judges are to be trusted"...oook

Here's me being amused by a chicken haha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6VzNlSslEc

Today's Latin: ceteris paribus (all else being equal)

"Morning in Paris, the city awakes to the bells of Notre Dame!"--"The Bells of Notre Dame"
glacier_kitty: (Default)
The Olympics are over today! I don't want them to be over!! It was so fun watching them. I'll miss Italy *tear*...well at least for a few months. The summer Olympics will be in China

Yesterday I searched for song lyrics that had 'epic' in them...only Luca Turilli and Rhapsody did...I'm surprised Blind Guardian or HammerFall didn't (unless I overlooked it)...yaaay epic Rhapsody

Man this weekend went by fast...

Today's Latin: cito Emendationem Quintam (I cite the Fifth Amendment)

"His soul is so full of love for his queen and rage for the triumph of that bloody king"--"Knight of Immortal Fire," Luca Turilli
glacier_kitty: (Default)
I brought Chapter V by HammerFall to school and when Knights of the 21st Century came on I listened to it to see if it was better the 2nd time...it definitely wasn't. SCREAMING DOESN'T WORK IN A HAMMERFALL SONG. Joacim had some lovely singing in the beginning but it was joined by the screaming guy so it sounded horrible...what on earth was HammerFall thinking?? And it surprised me to know that Oscar was the guitar player on Imperial, not Stefan...he's awesome! And what's the point of having a bassist if you can never hear them? Poor Magnus...the only songs where I can ever hear him are At the End of the Rainbow and Hearts on Fire. Same with Rhapsody's bassist...I've only ever heard him on Queen of the Dark Horizons...

Today feels like Friday...then after Friday is Thanksgiving Break, yaaaay. I must not go crazy from lack of Latin...

Ohio, take your cold weather back please...my typing hand is freezing...and even with my electric blanket on I'm still freezing when I'm sleeping...HOW DO YOU STAND IT KATHRYN AND AMY?!!!

"Can't you see the coming of a hero on this enchanting day?"--"Blood Bound," HammerFall
glacier_kitty: (Default)
Last night me, my brother, and my brother's friend Christopher stayed up really late...I only stayed up till 2 but they probably stayed up till 4 our something...they are still sleeping behind me. We stayed up talking about random things and spazzed out. Christopher said he was hot and I told him "you were the one flailing around and stuff" and he said "flailing?" *walks towards me with pillow* "I wasn't flailing, I was froliking." Suuure

And a few minutes ago I was watching my friend Gunnar headbang on webcam...and he showed me what outside looked like...it was prettyful

I wish the HammerFall forum would get back online! It's been down for like a week and it's really annoying

"Under my foot, so hopeless it seems. You've troubled my day, now feel the pain"--"Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill)," Blind Guardian
